Lavaux, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
Land of traditions listed in 2007 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the terraced vineyards of Lavaux are a magnificent site on the steep slopes that descend towards Lake Geneva.
A breathtaking landscape and a protected brand name of regional production, Lavaux can be explored on foot via numerous paths that begin just opposite the hotel, aboard little trains on tyres (Lavaux Express and Lavaux Panoramic) or by visiting the cellars of small charming villages that dot the countryside for a well-deserved tasting.
Le Château de Chillon
A mythic medieval castle built on a small rock formation in Lake Geneva, the Château de Chillon has been at the centre of the history of the region in several ways. Residence of the Counts of Savoy from the 12th century and later a symbol of the Bernese occupation as of 1536, the castle has also served as an arsenal and a prison.
Made famous by Rousseau who used it as the setting for a scene in his novel, La Nouvelle Heloïse, the castle draws its romanticism and mythic dimension from the poem of Lord Byron who contributed to making this major monument of the region an emblematic site known throughout the world. Self-guided visits, guided tours and temporary exhibitions are available for your enjoyment at the Château de Chillon every day of the year except 1 January and 25 December.
